Our physiotherapists use Clinical Pilates in the treatment of musculo-skeletal disorders. This can either be mat-based or using the Pilates equipment shown below.

When they are working correctly the inner abdominal muscle systems deep within the trunk of the body act like a 'corset' keeping the abdomen and spine in correct alignment.

Core stability trains these inefficient deep stabilising muscles to work to maintain the alignment and stability of the spine.

Strengthening these muscles is believed to be essential in preventing back injury and ensuring optimal mobility.

This equipment is used as an adjunct to mat-based exercises, and is based in the Studio at the Landsdowne Club

Pre Pilates Assessments

If you have any concerns before starting Pilates, our physiotherapist can do a brief assesment of any injuries you have and tell you whether or not Pilates is appropriate.
